For co-founders Kostas and Petros, the weeding crisis wasn’t theoretical—it was personal. While studying engineering, Kostas struggled with agonizing labor shortages and the grueling reality of manual weeding on his family’s organic farm. Driven by firsthand frustration, the duo turned a garage hobby into their first lab prototype: a small robot named NOMAD. It wasn't field-ready yet, but the seed was planted.

The mission demanded a larger, field-capable robot—and the right team to build it. Childhood friend Ioannis brought his agronomy and economics expertise to the table, perfectly complementing the engineering core. Together, the three officially launched Terra Robotics. Their shared vision was clear: make agriculture greener, ensure its viability for future generations, and solve the farmer’s ultimate pain point.

With the creation of OMEGA, our third prototype, we had an autonomous carrier ready for testing. However, an early adopter at a Greek baby leaf farm delivered a crucial reality check: "Weeding is a bigger pain than autonomous driving. Give us the weeding machine first, and make it autonomous later." We listened, pivoting our entire focus to perfecting the weeding implement itself.

Backed by our first round of funding from institutional investors and experienced angels, we fully embraced our new direction. We began developing a tractor-powered laser weeder designed to be the ultimate field solution. Our ambitious goal: to perfectly combine the efficacy of chemical herbicides, the precision of manual labor, and the operational ease of mechanical weeding.

We took our MVP across Europe, battle-testing it against extreme heat, moist soils, and diverse crop setups. Staying true to our farming roots, we engineered a durable, adaptable system for real field conditions. During this phase, Terra Robotics proudly pioneered the commercial-scale use of Diode Lasers in agriculture, introducing an industry-first modular architecture featuring easily swappable laser units.

Following highly successful demo days in France, the Terra Robotics WEEDER CORE officially entered production. We secured our first sales across European onion, carrot, and baby leaf farms, but our core ethos remains unchanged. We sell no hype. We simply listen to the farmer, adapt quickly, and master the technology that makes their operations easier and more profitable.
